Vyros Gorge

DOWN THE VYROS GORGE TUESDAY 28TH JUNE 2011

Today's walk took us up the kalderimi from Kardamilli towards Aghios Sofia via Kardamilli old town. Just before arriving at Aghios Sofia we turned left down a track that lead us down into the Vyros Gorge. It was a hot sunny day and 18 people joined us on the walk and of course JJ the dogs came along too. Once down at the bottom of the gorge we then followed the river bed back to Kardamilli. We also stopped off at the ruined monastery of Likaki, where JJ took a swim in the old sterna. On arriving back in Kardamill lunch was taken at the Dyscouri taverna over looking the harbour.

This was the last walk of the spring season. Our autumn walks start on September 6th 2011. Meet at 09.30 at the Lefktron Hotel, Stoupa.

Have a good summer. Thank you to everyone who attended our walks this spring.

DOLI CIRCULAR WALK

DOLI CIRCULAR WALK 21ST JUNE 2011.

Today's walk took us on a circular walk around the village of Doli. The walk was led by Dave, with 17 people on the walk, unfortunately because of other commitments JJ the dog was not with us. We started on the outskirts of Doli and went round a track that led us to the small church of Aghios Halmbros which was undergoing some reconstruction. We then took a track down to another larger church of Aghios Paraskevi were we took a refreshment break. From here we began the gradual climb back in to the village of Doli where we had a cool refreshing drink. Our last part took us back to the cars and we then went to Stavropigio for a meze lunch.

MALTA TO KARDAMILLI

MALTA TO KARDAMILLI
(Or Are We There Yet)

Today's walk took us from the village of Malta to Kardamilli. On a cloudy but warm day 24 of us caught the bus from Kardamilli to the Mani village of Malta. We then set off on the old kalderimi over the hill to walk back to Kardamilli. The walk took us 2 and a half hours and lunch was taken at Gialos tavern on the beach front in Kardamilli.
