A CIRCULAR WALK FROM KAMBOS

Todays walk took us on a circular walk from Kambos down into the Rintino gorge. It was a bright sunny day but the previous days rain made it tricky under foot. There were 28 people on the walk and of course JJ the dog. We finished the walk off with lunch at Miranda's taverna in the square at Kambos. Where we enjoyed excellent food and a drink or two.

Next weeks walk is from Malta to Kardamilli. Meet at the Lefktron Hotel, Stoupa at 09.30.

PROASTIO CIRCULAR WALK

Tuesday 17th May 2011 Proastio circular walk.

Todays walk started and finished in Proastio. There were 16 walkers and of course J.J the dog. A circular walk of about 10 kms was led by Mike from Proastio. It was a nice warm day with excellent views across the Messinia Gulf to Koroni and with the Taygetos mountain tops covered with cloud. It all made for an excellent walk. Thanks to Mike. Lunch was taken at Angelos's kafenion.

Neohori To Kastanea

TUESDAY 10TH MAY 2011

Today's walk started in Neohori and went up the kalderimi to Kastanea. We returned by a different track and had lunch at the kafenion in Neohori. There were 8 people on the walk and JJ the dog.

TWO CASTLES AND A MONASTERY

TUESDAY 3RD MAY A WALK ROUND STAVROPIGIO

This walk started in Stavropigio and went via Zarnata Castle, Malta and its Castle, to The Monastery of Andhroubevista which was closed hey ho you cannot win em all.

So there were 13 of us started out on this circular walk from Stavropigio. Firstly visiting Zaranta castle and then going to the sleepy village of Malta. From there we took the road to the castle at the back of Malta. Then we walked through the olive groves to the monastery of Andhroubevista. There we followed the downward track with wonderful views of the Taygetos mountains and splendid views over Kambos before arriving back in Stavropigio for lunch.
