KARDAMILLI, AG SOFIA TO PETROVOUNI AND BACK TO KARDAMILLI 15TH FEB 2011

This walk was done on 15th Feb 2011. Sorry it has only just been put on here, but I have a problem with my camera. So its thanks to Tim for supplying the pictures.

The walk started in Kardamilli and took us up into the old town. From there we took the kalderimi up to Aghios Sofia, passing the tombs of the heavenly twins Castor & Pollack. A short break was taken at the church at Aghios Sofia. Then we started our decent down into the between Aghios Sofia and Petrovouni. At the bottom the gorge is like a woodland glade. Here the track then climbs very steadily up to a water cistern below Petrovouni, where another short break was taken before the climb up in to Petrovouni. After a visit to the church we then started our decent back to Kardamilli via the kalderimi. We had a pleasant lunch looking over Kardamilli harbour.

MELANIE'S WALK FROM MALTA TO KARDAMILLI.

Thanks to Mel for inviting us on todays walk from Malta to Kardamilli.
Seven of us met in the Platia in Kardamilli and caught the bus to Malta. There we took the kaldarimi back towards Kardamilli. The weather was excellent and the walk took 21/2 hours. With lunch in Kardamilli over looking the harbour.

VYROS TO TSERIA (via Vyros Gorge)

Todays walk went from Vyros down through the gorge and up to the sleepy village of Tseria. Six people did the walk which was quite difficult in places especially crossing the gorge and the steep climb up to Tseria. After a walk round Tseria and someone scrumping oranges, we returned via the same path to Vyros.
